The city is 35 miles southwest of Washington, D.C., 18 miles south of Washington-Dulles International Airport and 70 miles southwest of Baltimore. It is accessible by car from interstates 66 and 95 (which offers a HOV system referred to as the SLUG system and more information can be found at www.slug-lines.com) also offered services is Amtrak from one of several stops in the area. One other great commuter service offered from Manassas is the VRE which links to the DC METRO system. This is very convenient and a good alternate for commuting to DC. More information on this can be found on: www.vre.org/service/man.htm and www.wmata.com about this.

Manassas was the site of several important Civil War battles in the 1860s. As such, the city draws many visitors each year to see the Manassas National Battlefield Park, Ben Lomond Manor House and other historic sites. Manassas today is a growing urban center whose residents still strive to retain the region’s historic, small-town atmosphere. Residents and visitors can enjoy excellent shopping and dining, educational historic sites, exciting recreational areas and an expansive local museum system that pays homage to the region’s past.

Eight Manassas City public schools serve most of the students in the area. Some Manassas students are in the Prince William County Public Schools region, which has 74 schools serving most of Prince William County. The real estate market of Manassas is unique. Whether you seek a condominium or townhouse, a smaller single-family home or a sprawling luxury estate property, you’re sure to find it.
